Day 29

Hi dear readers. I’m writing this at 11 PM — and I’m honestly very sleepy. Lately, I’ve been sleeping way too late, which isn’t great for peak football performance 🥲. One reason is these daily blogs. I usually write them at the end of the day, and each one takes me more than 30 minutes to finish.
Yeah, I know — surprising, right? Especially since they’re usually just around seven paragraphs long. Yesterday, for example, I literally slept today 😂 — meaning I started writing the blog at around 11:25 PM and finished past midnight.

This morning, I woke up two hours after my alarm. Disappointed, but not shocked — I hadn’t slept much the night before. Since the day had already started off late, I ended up doomscrolling on TikTok for a bit before deciding to do something productive. Around 10:30, I began my Spanish lessons. I usually take about 20 minutes each day to sharpen my Spanish, and I must say… I’m improving! I can even prove it 😄

After that, I picked up The Art of Getting Things Done and read a few pages. I was just about to start learning JavaScript when the lights went out. Oh, I was so frustrated. That meant no coding, no JS — nothing digital. So, I crossed those tasks off my planner, leaving just two things for the day: a solo session and team training.

By the way, it was raining, probably the reason for the blackout. But rain couldn’t stop me from doing what I love. I packed my things and headed to a small field nearby. My main goal was to go through the basics — to get used to how my new boots felt. And I did just that. I won’t go into much detail today because I’m really sleepy 😂, but I’ll say this: playing while fasting hits differently. I’ve never felt so weak before. I’m fasting to lose a bit of weight, and today it showed.

As I wrapped up my solo session, I played barefoot in the rain. And honestly… I loved it. The mild stings on my feet, the burning sensation when controlling the ball wet from a high bounce, sliding in the mud trying out skills — all of it. I loved it.

When I got home, I took a shower right away. It was around 2 PM by then. From that moment until about 5, the day felt unusually long. Despite being weak from fasting, I couldn’t sleep. I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought — about what, I don’t even know. My mom came home around 5, and that’s when I finally broke my fast. It was still raining, so I decided not to go for team training. I had already done mine.

The evening was calm. Nothing much to report. But if there’s something today taught me, it’s this: sometimes, when things don’t go your way — when the power goes out, when it rains, when plans fall apart — life gives you a different kind of training. Not for your legs, but for your patience, for your adaptability. Maybe that’s what growth really looks like.

That’s it for today, guys. I don’t want to sleep late like I did earlier today 😂 (hope you caught that little wordplay).

Spanish outro 🇪🇸:

Hoy jugué descalzo bajo la lluvia, y sentí algo distinto… libertad, cansancio, paz.
A veces no necesitas luz, solo el balón, la lluvia, y el corazón.

Have a good one — see you tomorrow.
