Day 8 and 9

Well well well... who would’ve thought I’d end up writing a two-day blog? Not me. I guess I’m a mystery — which I’ve decided is a good thing. Keeps life interesting. Women like men who are hard to read anyway, right? At least that’s what I’m telling myself so I don’t feel too bad about skipping a day.

Truth is, I didn’t have much to write about. Not every day comes with a plot twist. Most days follow a certain template — wake up, do my thing, train, code, repeat. But hey, that’s life sometimes. Anyway, here’s how day 8 went down.

It was a Wednesday. My mom had come home the night before, and my dad had already made it clear we were doing some general cleaning the next morning. My mom was off-duty — she’d earned it. I, on the other hand, was fired up. I like a clean space; it resets something in me. Maybe that’s what cleaning really is — not just about wiping away dust, but about clearing the path for what’s next.

By noon, we were done. I tried squeezing in a solo session, but fatigue said otherwise. I still pushed through for about 20 minutes before my friends showed up at my place. That’s when the laughter started. Turns out one of my boys, Albert, had joined the gym recently — all because of what happened at a party weeks ago.

Picture this: he’s eyeing a girl, confident he’s got a chance… until another guy just lifts her up like she’s weightless and has her sit on his lap. Bro was crushed. He swore right there that he’d start hitting the gym. I laughed so hard when I heard that story again. The things we do to impress the huzz are wild.

We ended up talking code for a while too — which was surprisingly refreshing. Hopefully not the last time we do that. Later in the evening, Jeremy and I headed out for team training. Preseason was kicking in, and it showed. The session was brutal but in that satisfying way that reminds you you’re getting sharper. When I got home, I knocked out immediately. Slept like a baby.

The next day, I woke up early. We had to go register as voters since elections were coming up. I did my chores, squeezed in some React work, even managed a solo session — all before 11 a.m. I was feeling productive.

Then came the highlight (or what I thought would be the highlight) — meeting a certain lady. We were supposed to meet in town near our university. I didn’t have a place there, so I called an old classmate to help me use his crib for the meetup. I even helped him clean it before she arrived — once again, cleaning my way into trouble.

She told me she was freshening up and would take just a few minutes. Those “few minutes” turned into hours. My excitement slowly turned into disappointment, then frustration. I thought she’d stood me up. I even considered leaving — or worse, doing something dumb out of frustration. But then she called. Turns out she’d actually fallen asleep.

Patience, man. That’s the word of the day. Sometimes you just have to wait a little longer before things fall into place.

When she finally arrived, I was… stunned. She was gorgeous. A short skirt, a crop top, the kind of energy that turns heads. But I stayed calm. We talked, vibed, and she ended up coming back to the crib. No, we didn’t do anything. I made that choice — not because I didn’t want to, but because I knew I’d feel off after. She wanted something real, a relationship even, but I wasn’t sure that fit into my current mission.

I mean, I’m chasing something big — trying to be one of the greatest in Kenya. And that dream doesn’t come easy. Relationships can be draining, and right now, I need that energy for my grind.

I walked her home later that night and, as I replayed the last 48 hours, something clicked. I’m not doing enough. I’m doing something, yes — but it’s the bare minimum. I pulled out my planner and started mapping out tomorrow. It felt like I was cleaning again — not my room this time, but my path.

Tomorrow, I start fresh.

Routine might sound boring, but that’s where the magic hides. Stick to it long enough and one day, it won’t just be routine — it’ll be greatness.

Anyway, that’s it for today. I’ll see you in tomorrow’s chapter.
